The innovative 1888 Center is a nonprofit organization located at the heart of the historic District in Old Towne Orange, California. The building, constructed in 1925, hosts a bookshop, gallery, multi-use performance space, and café serving creative beverages crafted by Contra Coffee & Tea.

 

We need your help supporting our community and building a cultural legacy for future generations.

The 1888 Podcast Network is a curated collection of educational and entertaining podcasts. Each program is designed to provide a unique platform for industry innovators to share stories about art, literature, music, history, science, or technology.

 

Select episodes are presented live around Orange County and at the 1888 Center in Old Towne Orange, California. When a guest is unable to travel, interviews are conducted online and released as special editions. All programs are recorded and archived as a free resource to download and stream on our website or with your favorite podcast app.

Publishing

1888 is a publisher of contemporary novellas and The Cost of Paper, an annual anthology of international short stories. Our books are available in both print and digital formats, online and in your local bookstore, library, museum, university gift shop, and selected specialty accounts.

Our vision is to establish a lasting cultural center in Old Towne Orange, California, and transform the City into the Literary Arts Capital of Southern California.
