Workshop: Writing Productivity for Plotters and Pantsers

April 14, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

$60
Purchase Tickets: $60

Give us three hours, and we’ll help you write better and faster.

Do you struggle to find the time to write? Are you floundering in the messy middle of your story? Wonder how you’ll ever get yourself organized enough to finish your novel, nevermind write the sequel?

The two main things that trip writers up are lack of time and lack of planning. This workshop will tackle both.

Part One: Carve out the Time

Your life is busy. But so is Megan Haskell’s. She’s the mother of two young children and the Blog Editor/Content Director of O.C. Writers. Yet in the last three years, she has written and published three full-length novels, two short stories, and co-written and published a non-fiction guidebook. In the next four months, she is releasing a third short story, a novella, and book 4 of her series. Learn her productivity hacks.

Megan will help you:

  • Find the hidden minutes in your day
  • Build a daily writing habit
  • Use proven tips and tricks to increase your writing speed

Part Two: Create a Plot Menu to keep Your Novel on Track

Do you hate to plot and consequently write yourself into impossible corners? Or maybe you do plot, but it makes your work feel formulaic and kills your creativity. Greta Boris created a “plantsing” (a combination of plotting & pantsing, or discovery writing) method of outlining her novels using the basics of the 3 Act Structure, the nine Enneagram personality types, and scene by scene brain-dumping.

The Plot Menu will help you:

  • Visualize your story’s overall arc
  • Create deeper, more realistic characters
  • Make every minute at the keyboard productive

You’ll leave the workshop with a week-long calendar mapping out your ideal times to write, a Plot Menu spreadsheet for your work in progress, and a solid set of tried-and-true resources you can use to improve your writing productivity.

No matter whether you’re a pantser or a plotter, you’ll find the tools you need to build a writing system that works for you.
