Are you ready to write a novel in November? National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. Participants work toward the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel in 30 days. In this two-part workshop series, learn strategies for writing an entire novel in just thirty days. Each session will include instructor-led challenges, group exercises, and freeform brainstorming. This is also a great opportunity to meet your fellow local writers and find out about the many events NaNoWriMo hosts throughout the month!
Session 1 – Thursday, October 11th – Topics: big picture plotting; finding your story; themes and conflict
Session 2 – Thursday, October 25th – Topics: setting and worldbuilding; crafting complex characters

Amber Morrell is a speculative fiction writer and children’s librarian based in Orange County. Her first NaNoWriMo attempt was in 2007, at the age of 14, and she has since completed half a dozen novels through the program. She’s served as NaNoWriMo’s Municipal Liaison for the North Orange County region since 2016 and has led events, hosted workshops, and acted as a general cheerleader for hundreds of writers across Orange County.
